Grandma Beck's pie crust recipe

If you're looking for an easy, foolproof pie crust recipe that turns out flaky and delicious every single time, then try out Grandma Beck's recipe. There is one secret ingredient that makes it the most amazing crust! Can you guess what it is before reading the recipe below?

Here's the recipe:
1 cup butter flavored shortening
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 cup cold water
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

Measure the flour by spooning it into a measuring cup, put in bowl. Sprinkle on the salt and mix. Cut up shortening into cubes and add to the flour. Gently combine using your hands by squishing the chunks of shortening until a very coarse crumb.

Add the vinegar and the egg to the cold water. Slowly add to the flour/shortening while mixing together. Use just enough liquid to make a soft dough and not making it too wet. Stop mixing when the dough starts coming together so you don't over mix.

Score down the middle of the dough to split in half. Shape two disks from the dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours.

Roll out and shape as desired. The marbling you see running through your pie crust will become delightfully flaky when it is baked.

Bake as directed in your pie recipe.
